The average ticket to Disney costs between $100-$150 per day. Considering that most visitors go for multiple days to cover the entire park, these ticket prices can add up over time.
To help multi-day visitors and frequent flyers, Disney created the Disney Vacation Club as a sort of vacation timeshare for Disney parks.
But, is the Disney Vacation Club worth it? Or, would it be cheaper to buy tickets traditionally?
Keep reading to find out.
Disney Vacation Club Membership
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a vacation timeshare program that allows people to own a piece of a vacation resort. This allows them to book vacations at that resort often.
With the DVC, you’d own a part of one of the resorts that they have on Disney park property. And, you’d build Disney Vacation Club points to use toward stays.
Disney Vacation Club Points
At the time of purchase, members of the DVC will buy a certain number of points. Points don’t change from year to year, but you can choose to buy more points to add to the amount that you currently have.
You can then use these points to buy a stay at one of the Disney resorts. The number of points needed for the stay will depend on the time of year, choice of resort, size of the room, and length of stay.
How to Join the Disney Vacation Club
To join the Disney Vacation Club, you have to pay a down payment on your membership plus monthly fees.
Disney requires that you pay at least 10% of the initial down payment upfront, but they encourage you to pay it all at once. If you choose not to, you can refinance the rest.

So, Is the Disney Vacation Club Worth It?
The first factor you should consider is the money. Joining the DVC costs a lot of money upfront, upwards of $600. Then, you’d have to pay about $70 each month after that.
If you want to get additional points on top of that, you’d have to pay about $200 per point. This means that a DVC membership could cost tens of thousands of dollars.
But, this amount may be cheaper than you’d pay if you go to Disney with multiple people multiple times a year. And, you have to consider that this cost covers the cost of living while staying at Disney, too.
To decide whether joining the Disney Vacation Club is worth it for your family, you need to sit down and crunch the numbers. Think about how often you have gone or will go to Disney.
Then, compare traditional prices to DVC prices. Don’t forget to include the cost of living, including hotel stays and food.
