It is never too early to start thinking about the sunshine, beaches and barbeque parties that will take place in the Summer. Every year, you tell yourself that you are going to look great by the time those photos on the sun lounger come around to being taken, and it is a safe bet to say you probably always leave it too late and end up disappointed. This year is your year, and here is your checklist to start now for the perfect summer body.
Get serious with your diet and exercise
It is time to put down the leftover Christmas chocolate and start getting into the salads, fish, and legumes. One of the easiest ways to get into this is to keep track of what you are eating. You can do this on paper or more easily through popular apps such as MyFitnessPal. These apps have all the most popular brands of food listed on their platform, so often you can simply search for your meal or scan the packaging barcode. It will tell you how many calories are in each meal but also break down the nutritional benefits and tell you when you are going over your daily allowance of food intake. This keeps you accountable and is proven to be effective for many people’s diets.
Equally, this can be done with exercise too. Apple watches and Fitbits have been popular in tracking your physical activity for several years now. The best part about this is that it means that you can now buy many older devices second-hand for very reasonable costs. Many of the devices will also have the additional features of tracking your heart rate and sleep to ensure you are at an optimum level of fitness by the time Summer rolls in.
Start looking after your skin now
Keeping well hydrated is the first step in getting your skin ready for the strong summer climate that is on its way. Three liters of water per day is recommended. Other methods of early prevention of sun damage include getting into the practice of using sunscreen and using self-tanning creams to build up a resistance to the strong sun rays while also creating a complimentary glow ready for swimwear season.
If you have any embarrassing skin problems that you want to deal with before lounging around in your bikini, then early intervention is also an important consideration. Depending on the situation, you could speak with your doctor, or consider trying various products. For example, if you struggle with back and shoulder acne, then perhaps start using an acne body wash to become blemish-free by the time the sun comes out.
Get your summer clothes now
Lastly, you want to look stylish in your summer wear, and so getting started on your shopping early is a wonderful way to get more for your money while many summer clothes are still on sale and have not replaced the winter stock yet. If you want to get creative, you can even use the extra time to plan out your outfits and accessories and create some new looks from vintage finds and some haberdashery skills.
