Helping the Planet by Reducing Your Carbon Footprint

Business

20 Jul

Global Warming is a major issue that is at the forefront of politics and opinions now more than ever. There has been a lot of talk about how governments and communities can tackle this issue and do better for the amazing planet we live on. Even though it is mostly out of our hands when it comes to your countries stand point on global warming, you can help as an individual by reducing your carbon footprint. Below I have included some great tips on how to reduce your carbon footprint that can benefit our atmosphere.

Getting Around

In the busy world we live in we are all looking for the best way to get from A to B without taking into consideration the damage this could be doing to the atmosphere. Let’s face it, it is near impossible to completely rule out the use of a car to travel to your destination but there are ways you can minimize usage to help reduce your CO2 emissions. Try to walk or cycle as much as you can to completely avoid emissions and when you can’t try to use public transport or carpooling. Using public transport or carpooling will spread CO2 emissions across numerous people which will reduce the output into the planet.

There has been a major improvement on electric cars that are available, there are opportunities now to get vehicles that can be charged by solar panels and other clean electricity sources. Cars can now also support a hybrid engine that can use both electricity or fuel and this can help reduce your footprint.

When you are driving there are a number of ways you can reduce your emissions. Unnecessary speeding and high acceleration increases your carbon footprint so changing your driving style can have its benefits for you and the planet.

Using Energy Whilst at Home

There are many ways to reduce your footprint whilst at home. The easiest and least hassle would be to switch things off when you are not using them, switch your lights out when they are not necessary and make sure to unplug any unused chargers. Take time when you are purchasing appliances for your home, check their efficiency and make sure they save as much energy as possible. Try to use renewable energy, there are a lot of companies now that can attach solar panels to the roof of your home which will also benefit your electricity prices.

Start Now

If you have been neglecting the issues that global warming is bringing to the world and have never gave a thought to reducing your carbon footprint it is never too late to start. Look up what global warming is doing to the world, it is devastating. It is getting to the point where it is affecting us now and not just something that is going to affect the world in the future. We need to do everything that we can do now to help reduce the amount of CO2 emissions we are pumping into the atmosphere, no matter how big or small it will help.
